About Jamia Nizamia :At the core of
Islamic knowledge is its scrupulous methodology and the institutions and
individuals who preserve it.
' Abdullah al-Mubarak
raDiallahu anhu (181
AH), one of the illustrious Teachers
of Sayyidina Imam al-Bukhari radiallahu anhu had said, that "The isnad is part of
the religion: had it not been for the isnad,
whoever wished to would have said whatever he
liked."
Allah azza wa jall has chosen and
distinguished Jamia Nizamia for almost a Century
and a half to preserve and propagate the essence
of the Islamic Sciences and the core of Islamic
belief protected through this very isnad
mentioned by Imam Abdullah al-Mubarak, i.e the unbroken chains of authority
which go back fourteen centuries linking the
scholars and the institution back to the beloved
messenger of Allah Sayyiduna Muhammad sallallahu
`alaihi wa sallam.
This noble institution has now completed 134 years of
remarkable and selfless service to Islam ,
its propagation and preservation of its
normative sciences.Jamia Nizamia
was founded as a modest Madrasa Nizamia on the
Ninteenth day of Dhul Haj, 1292 al-Hijri by the
renowned and Giant scholar and savant of Islam
al Shaykh al-Kabir Hazrat Sheikh-ul-islam Moulana Hafiz
Muhammad Anwarullah
Farooqi Fazeelath Jung `alaihi rahmatu wa riDwan.
Sheikh-ul-Islam nurtured this institution
with meager resources and ran it on the basis of piety and reliance upon
Allah azza wa jall. It was quite often that the expenditure of this school exceeded the income
and the the founder turned
towards the Alllah azza wa jall and sought His help. The founder of this Jamia was a giant
visionary and an
exemplary personality of his time and a reverend scholar. Having worked as a Minister
of Religious Affairs in the Nizam's Dominion of
Hyderabad, he was known far and wide for his
multifarious skills in teaching , writing, editing , publishing, poetry
and extra ordinary skills of admisnistration. An Institution beloved to the Beloved of
Allah sallahu `alaihi wa sallam : The
acceptance of Jamia Nizamia in the Noble court
of the beloved Messenger of Allah can be gauged from this
incident that took place on the 22nd day of Dhul
Hajj 1321 al-Hijri , when the yearly convocation
was being held in Jamia Nizamia which was
attended by renowned scholars and distinguished
academicians like Hazrat Moulana Sheikh Abdul Samad Khandhari
rahimahullah,Moulana Sheikh Mufti Ruknuddin
rahimahullah, Hazrat Moulana Sheikh Shah Abdul Haq
rahimahullah,The author
of 'Tafseer Haqqani'. It was during this night that Sheikh Moulana Sharfuddin Saheb Rudulvi
rahimahullah dreamt that the
Beloved Messenger of Allah sallalahu `alaihi wa
sallam was asking for the certificates of Jamia
Nizamia to attest them with His own stamp.
In obedience to the command of the Rasul `alaihi
afDalus salatu was salam, the superintendent of the Jamia
presented the certificates to the Holy Prophet.
The outcome of this dream was that thousands of
scholars are produced by this Jamia so far who
have served the Islamic world.
The revered founder of Jamia expressed this desire in one of his
books as follows :
"One should always seek divine help as I do . I have neither fixed any limit on the strength of the students nor on the
expenditure. On this belief the Almighty has always helped me in maintaining a balance between the income and
the expenditure. This institution prospered day by day and the number of the students increased".
Even today Jamia Nizamia runs simply upon
Tawakkul il-allah.
Jamia Nizamia is regarded world wide as a stronghold of Islamic education and
a premier center of spiritual
knowledge. The Institution has illuminated and spread the light of Islamic
knowledge throughout the length and breadth of India and
the whole world. During
the last 134 years thousands of students have quenched their thirst
for sacred knowledge from this fountain of
knowledge and enriched themselves in the field
of religious education. Many of them have proved
their perfection and skills in the fields of
Teaching , Writing , Reviewing ,Conversation ,
Research and Propagation of Islam.
A large number of
scholars produced by the Jamia have been the torch bearers in their
respective fields of Islamic Sciences.
Jamia Nizamia is a sacred heritage and an asset in its existence.
The hallmark of Jamia Nizamia apart from its
remarkable service to the deen of Allah is its
sense of moderation in approach, which is a
legacy of its founder who always maintained a
balance in his approach to understanding the
deen and laid the foundations of the Jamia
Nizamia on the same principles Sheikh-ul-Islam
considered it to be in consonance with the true spirit of Islam.
Many defects are found in the present day
Islamic thought which is charmed and influenced
by different modern understandings of our
religion, these approaches leave behind
centuries of scholarship and its associated
heritage and more importantly the essence of the
religion as it was propagated from the beloved
Messenger of Allah sallalahu `alaihi wa sallam. At such crucial times it
becomes increasingly important to obtain the
traditional understanding and knowledge of Islam
as known to our pious predecessors the
companions of the Messenger of Allah ,the pious salaf and the pious khalaf, and for that to
happen it is necessary to approach its
traditional scholars who are found at flag bearing
sanctuaries of sacred knowledge like the Jamia Nizamia,
and we at
